The Collection is a text-based storytelling game. I got the inspiration of the story from both a very strange dream I had after my sister's time in the hospital after a surgery (don't worry she's completely fine).  Use the buttons on the screen to choose what you would like to do. There is a quit button if you would like to exit at any time. But be careful, each choice you make has its consequences! There are multiple different endings, many of which are drastically different from each other, so I suggest playing through multiple times with different choices. Have fun, and thanks for playing! *For some reason, itch won't let me publish the Mac and Windows downloads, so please play in the browser.

Great game! I don't know if this is a web-only thing, but the "Quit" and the "Quit to Menu" buttons seem to lock the game.  The buttons also cover the text in one of the endings, and the capitalization on them seems a bit inconstant.

The audio gave me a scare and made decision-making feel urgent, and I love how the interface matches your itch page. Please level the background audio; otherwise, good job.

I really liked how you layered the glitchy sound whenever the game was reset, so it just got louder and louder. However, I don't think the quit button or the stay put button was working.

Only thing I would change is that for the second scene, the "stay put" button doesn't do anything. Maybe a glitch? Other than that, well done!

I encountered this same thing! Maybe they're forcing us to move haha

I feel like the game would benefit from a visual map or guide, or some sort of visual that represents the areas that you're exploring! Something some others mentioned were fonts, which I think could help contribute to the mysterious atmosphere of the game itself!

Yeah, some visuals would add to the story, make things a bit more explanatory!

One small improvement I would recommend is setting a limit on the sound effect for resting. Adding a mysterious font or background graphics for the buttons could make it evenmore interactive. Overall, it was very dreamlike and fun to explore all the options!

adding to this, in concerns with the interface, I would also suggest that to space the CTA's and the text further away from each other. The longer text boxes get overlapped by the choice blocks for some reason.

This reminds me of those short sentence horror stories you’d see on Reddit because of the horror aspects next to the simple story behind it leading up to it.

This game reminds me of Backroom, where the protagonist is also trapped in an unknown place and has to make continuous choices to escape

The game reminds me a dream like feels of games, like silent hills2 abd silent hills PT. Especially those movies and games that trap players in a closed room, like room escape and visage. They created a feeling that players were locked and trapped.

very cool! I got a few endings, but one in particular reminded me of something like metal gear solid or even the winter soldier from marvel. Very interesting character development, I’d love to see you build on this more!

I like the simple design of the game and the different paths I can take. the red text used when encountering the body definitely adds a sense of dread. i wonder if that could’ve been used in the unknown rooms scenario as well

I agree! The narrative story telling is also super intriguing with just a short amount of simple sentences.

The dark background of the game feels very mysterious, and with mentions of a "light," the light colored buttons almost feel beckoning

A mysterious game. Some ending left me in suspense, makes me really want to know what happened, how it happened what did I just walk into (it’s a good kind of suspense, not saying your narrative is incomplete)

It's a really nice game. The background music didn't start playing until my second playthrough (I'm not sure why), but I really liked your multiple endings. How many endings are there in total?

I wonder what the story behind the game is, like who "The body" really is...

I was also thinking the same thing. I like the open-endedness of the game and the questions it sparks.

The game was good; I wished there were visuals to go along with the sound design.  Some of the text gets blocked by some of the boxes, which I wanted to see. I also got one of the endings very quickly. Personally, I would prefer a longer journey to an ending.

The most memorable moment for me is the creepy opening music which really helps create the unsettling vibe of the game. It's very well done, and I was kind of scared while playing

When I was playing this game, I can feel that there was a deep story hidden under it. I like the sound you used in when I reached one end and restarted the game!
